Our Lady of Grace Church, Bicholim, Goa is called ‘Nossa Senhora da Graca Igreja em Bicholim,Goa’ in Portuguese. The Our Lady of Grace Church, Bicholim, Goa is popularly called ‘The Bicholim Church’ locally in Goa. The first church of Bicholim built in 1652, was the cathedral of Bishop Mateus de Castro, apostolic Vicar of the Great Moghul. Bicholim came under Portuguese rule in 1781, the year in which the Our Lady of Grace Church, Bicholim was built and dedicated to Our Lady of Grace as the Patron saint. The parish of the Bicholim Church was under the administration of the Jesuit fathers for about thirty years, till 1989. A new building of the Bicholim Church was inaugurated in April 1998.
